Lauren is a 200-hour yoga teacher working towards licensure as a psychotherapist through WVU’s M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Her clinical specialty is polyvagal theory and adults facing new-onset chronic illness.

Lauren has practiced yoga for 25 years, exploring Hatha, Ashtanga, and Yin, and studied classical mat Pilates for four years. Lauren credits her personal yoga practice with a remarkable rehabilitation after viral heart failure in her thirties. As a “bionic woman” with implanted cardiac devices and experience scaling practice around injury, Lauren loves finding safe approaches to movement for every body. She emphasizes self-modification in her group classes, empowering students and facilitating a deeper connection to our own needs.

Lauren lives with her husband and canine sidekick in a historic farmhouse in downtown Luray. They moved to the Valley from D.C. four years ago to be closer to hiking. Lauren is also an avid paddle boarder, casual pickle baller, excellent gluten-free baker, and poor (if enthusiastic) gardener.
